A group of patients prescribed GLP-1 receptor agonists for weight management underwent Pharmacogenomics testing as part of their River assessment. The testing identified elevated genetic risk for pancreatitis in several individuals — a risk that the prescribing physician was not aware of and that would not have appeared on any standard pre-prescription workup.
Outcome
For the identified patients, the treating physician modified the prescribing decision — adjusting medication choice, dosing, and monitoring protocol. Adverse events were prevented. In several cases, the treatment plan was changed entirely. The test arrived before the harm. That is what River is for.
