About River

Built on what we know.

River exists because two people spent decades inside India's health system — and saw, from the inside, exactly what it gets wrong. And exactly what it would take to get it right.

Why River exists

"India's diagnostics industry runs on convenience, not rigour — and the patient has no idea."

01

Doctors recommend labs based on ease of access, not scientific quality. Referral decisions are made on familiarity and incentive — not on who produces the most accurate result.

02

Labs compete on price, which means cutting reagents and corners. The result is incomplete, missed, or false data — which then becomes the basis for health decisions that affect years of a patient's life.

03

Patients receive reports they cannot read, from labs they didn't choose, for tests they didn't understand, with no one to explain what any of it means for how they should actually live.

04

Genomics and precision medicine is available in India — but buried inside a market of noise, unverified claims, and labs that have adopted the language of precision without the science behind it.

River was built by founders who knew — from nearly five decades of combined field experience — exactly who is genuinely world-class in each specialty, and who is not. River routes only to the best. Never for margin. Always for the person.

What the name means

A river is not
a single stream.

Every tributary has its own origin, its own character, its own flow. But they converge to form something larger, more powerful, more life-giving than any one of them alone. River orchestrates that convergence for your health — bringing the right diagnostics, genomics, and clinical expertise around one person, one life, one outcome.

And a river is a mirror. Still water reflects clearly. River gives you that clarity — of your own biology, your own risk, your own potential for a longer and better life.

The mirror

"Your mirror to longevity."

River reflects your health as it truly is — not as your last blood test suggested, not as your symptoms imply, but as your complete biology actually reads. Most people have never seen this picture clearly. River shows it to you.

The tributaries

Six molecular streams. One complete picture.

Genomics, metabolomics, proteomics, epigenetics, microbiome, and biomarkers — each a tributary with its own intelligence. River brings them together, interpreted by people who understand what they mean for your life.

The current

Longevity is not a destination.

It is a direction. River doesn't give you a number and leave. It gives you an ongoing relationship with your biology — tracking, interpreting, and guiding as your health evolves over time.

What we believe

Four beliefs that
drive every decision.

Not brand values written for a pitch deck. Convictions formed over decades of working inside a broken system.

Belief 01

Accuracy is not optional.

A diagnostic result that is slightly wrong is not slightly helpful — it is actively harmful. It sends a patient and their doctor down the wrong path. River works only with partners whose scientific standards we have verified ourselves, not taken on faith.

Belief 02

Data without guidance is noise.

A genomic report delivered without explanation is not a health service — it is a document. River's commitment is not just to produce excellent results, but to ensure every person understands what those results mean for how they live.

Belief 03

The human relationship is irreplaceable.

Online-only health models optimise for scale at the cost of the conversation that actually changes behaviour. River believes that physical presence, human trust, and direct relationship are not legacy features of healthcare — they are its foundation.

Belief 04

Prevention is the only real intervention.

The diseases that will shorten or diminish most lives in India are largely preventable — but only if the right information arrives early enough to act on. River exists to move that information upstream, from the hospital to the decade before the hospital becomes necessary.

The founders

Built from the inside
out.

River was not built by investors looking for a health market opportunity. It was built by two people who spent their careers inside this field — and reached the same conclusion from different directions.

Mahesh Nambiar

Co-Founder

Biology Research & Genomics

Mahesh has spent nearly two decades working in biology research and genomics — close enough to the science to understand what rigorous testing actually looks like, and close enough to the market to see where it consistently falls short.

At River, he applies that knowledge to one purpose: ensuring that every test and every partner meets a standard the market rarely demands but patients always deserve.

"Genomics answers one question and immediately raises ten more. I spent years watching people receive genetic results with no idea what to do with them — and the industry was perfectly comfortable with that. I wasn't. Genetics is only meaningful when it sits inside a complete health picture. That gap — between what the science can reveal and what people actually receive — is why River exists."

Savita Deshpande

Co-Founder

Diagnostics & Clinical Operations

A nutritionist by training, Savita has spent a decade working at the intersection of clinical health and health programme delivery — building partnerships, supporting commercial operations, and understanding what it takes to translate health science into something people can actually act on.

At River, she brings the clinical grounding and operational instinct that keep the service human, practical, and well-run.

"What bothered me was not the quality of the reports — it was what happened after. A person walks in with a health concern, gets a test done, receives a printout, and walks out alone. No conversation, no context, no one asking how they're feeling about what they just read. Health is deeply personal. Treating it like a transaction was something I could never reconcile with."

Scientific Advisory Board

The scientists and clinicians
who keep River honest.

River's scientific advisory board provides independent clinical and research oversight — ensuring that every test River offers meets genuine scientific standards, and that River's interpretation of results is clinically valid.

Dr. Dhara Mehta, DO, MS

Scientific Advisor

Neurologist · USA

A practising neurologist based in the United States, Dr. Mehta brings clinical depth in neurology and a strong grounding in genomic medicine. She advises River on the cognitive and neurological applications of genetic testing — including pharmacogenomic drug response in neurological conditions, and the early genomic markers of neurodegenerative disease risk.

RT

Dr. Renjan Thomas

Scientific Advisor

Scientist & Molecular Pathologist

A molecular pathologist and research scientist, Dr. Thomas advises River on the clinical validity and scientific interpretation of genomic and molecular diagnostic methods. He ensures that every test River offers is backed by peer-reviewed evidence, that the interpretation frameworks River uses are clinically sound, and that River's standards match those of the world's leading precision medicine institutions.

River is actively building its scientific advisory network — adding specialist advisors in nutrition science, oncology, cardiology, and endocrinology. If you are a clinician or researcher who shares River's commitment to rigour without compromise, we would like to hear from you.

For Clinical Partners

River works with partners
who share its standards.

River is not looking for volume partnerships. It is looking for clinics, hospitals, and wellness programmes that take quality as seriously as River does — and want to offer their patients something genuinely better than what the market currently provides.

  • Biological intelligence for your diagnostic suiteRiver's genomic and molecular testing layer adds the biological why behind every scan, blood test, and clinical measurement your facility already produces.
  • Training and clinical supportRiver trains the clinical teams it partners with — on genomic interpretation, on communicating results, and on integrating precision medicine into existing clinical workflows.
  • Selective, not transactionalRiver applies the same rigour to choosing partners as it does to choosing testing labs. This is not about reach — it is about building a network of clinical environments where the standard of care is genuinely exceptional.
